Description
A Biomedical Technician I is an entry-level technical role within Health Technology Management responsible for supporting the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical equipment under supervision. The position focuses on developing foundational technical skills while ensuring medical devices are safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on medical equipment according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and repair of biomedical devices under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Respond to service calls for equipment issues and escalate complex problems as needed
- Support equipment inventory management, including tagging, tracking, and status updates
- Assist with device installations, removals, and relocations within clinical and non-clinical areas
- Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., electrical safety, infection control)
